The Scouters had already been onsite since Friday evening, getting the tents and all the equipment set up. At 11.00 on Saturday 31st May 2025, nineteen Beaver Scouts arrived for their first camping adventure of the Scout year. The weather was reasonably mild for the time of year, however, we were faced with a deluge of rain for the first half of the day; not that it bothered the Beavers! As the afternoon progressed, the sky cleared and the sun made an appearance. It was a blowy weekend from start to finish, so the gazebos were well tied down.
Our activities were back to basics, with a walk/explore, some foraging and lots of free time/free play. All the children had a brilliant night and went home on Sunday a lot more tired than when they arrived.
The exhausted adults who helped across the weekend were Fiona, Bernadette, Thomas, Rachel, Anthony, John, Damien, Jim, Raymond, Ronan and Rónán – all of whom had just as much fun as the Beaver Scouts!
