Volunteer

Help us, to help them.

Start your volunteering adventure

"The most worthwhile thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others."

Our adult volunteers are called Scouters, and we have lots of ways we support Scouters on their own volunteering journey.

You’ll receive first-class training and guidance to ensure you are encouraged and coached through your volunteering journey.

Not only will you be improving the lives of children and young people in Newry and the surrounding areas, you’ll be enhancing your own too.

The benefits of volunteering with our Scout Group include making friends, learning new skills and helping our local community flourish.

90%

5+ Years Volunteering

Over 90% of our volunteers have been involved for 5 or more years, showing that they want to come back year after year.

64%

Advanced Qualification

64% of our Scouters have achieved a recognised qualification. With REC3 First Aid, Mountain Skills, Paddle Sports and more, there is something for everyone!

100%

Happiness Rate

The biggest reward we get is seeing the smile on a young person’s face on any given evening (or the roar of laughter emanating from a tent at 2 am!).

Your Volunteering Impact:

Emotional Development

Contribute to the emotional development of young people. Our youth members have increased confidence, positivity, maturity and patience.

Personal Development

Influence the personal development of young people. Our youth members report increased teamwork, leadership, time management, independence, responsibility, and respect.

Social Network

Volunteering with Scouting Ireland means being a part of our National and Global network while giving young people a chance to build better friendships and social skills.

Practical Skills

Learn and teach young people practical skills such as first aid, cooking, navigation, budgeting, problem-solving and critical thinking.
