This weekend, eight of our Scouters were on various training courses.
Órlaith and Rónán spent three days in Gortin Outdoor Centre, Tyrone on an advanced leadership in wilderness first aid course (REC4). This course develops skills gained at the REC3 emergency level and covers an in-depth review of emergency care topics including shock management, longer term care and advanced techniques.
Tasha, Barry, Bernadette, Damien, Paul and Fiona spent the day in and around Armagh Scout Den, upskilling on pioneering, backwoods and knife safety.
All these skills will greatly benefit our volunteers when working with children and young people, and these skills can now be brought back to Newry Scout Group to be imparted on our own youth members.
