Six of our Scouters – Anthony, Damien, John, Órlaith, Raymond and Rónán – proudly represented Newry Scout Group today at the National Assembly of Scouting Ireland in the National College of Ireland, Dublin.
Joining over 400 delegates from across the island, we took part in a day of discussion, collaboration and decision-making, helping to shape the future direction of Scouting Ireland. The Assembly provided an important opportunity for youth representatives and volunteers to have their voices heard and to contribute to key developments within the organisation.
A particular highlight for our group was the success of our proposal to the Assembly, which sought to promote equity in access to national events, regardless of where a group may be geographically located. The proposal was passed with an overwhelming 98% majority – a fantastic achievement and a strong endorsement from fellow Scouts nationwide.
Well done to all involved for representing Newry Scouts so positively on the national stage.
